This program is for mature satsangis (spiritual seekers) who wish to deeply study Indian scripture (Sanatan Dharma Shastra) under the able guidance of Swamijis who themselves have spent years studying it under their gurus as per the “Guru-Shishya Parampara” (Teacher-Disciple Tradition) wherein the scriptural knowledge is passed on from the Guru(Teacher) to the Shishya(disciple) in an intimate personal manner.
The scriptural texts that are taken up for Swadhyaya study are most often the Bhagwad Gita, the Upanishads and the Bhramasutras, the grand three that constitute the “prasthana trayee” (three starting points) of Hindu spiritual learning. The Swamiji teaching the subject matter takes up every Sanskrit verse, translates it into Hindi, conveys its import and then elucidates its interpretation as given by authoritative commentaries written by the revered Acharyas, in particular Adiguru Shri Shankaracharya.
The students are free to ask questions and seek clarification of doubt during the course of instruction.
Any given Scriptural text that is taken up for study is typically covered in its entirety in a steady manner over an extended period of over a year or two. During this period of time, several different teachers handle the subject and treat it in their own distinctively different style while maintaining a constancy in the essential teachings. This gives the student an opportunity to appreciate the content in an eclectic manner.
The Swadhyaya program is held daily, Monday to Saturday from 8.45 am to 9.45 am.
The instruction is in Hindi language.
